SWSiteWire

Cookie Policy

Last updated: June 5, 2026

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored in your browser when you visit a website. SiteWire takes a minimal approach, we use browser localStorage rather than HTTP cookies for session management, because localStorage is same-origin only and cannot be sent to third-party servers by the browser.

2. What We Store and Why

KeyStoragePurposeExpires
sw_tokenlocalStorageAuthentication JWT, keeps you logged in72 hours
sw_userlocalStorageCached user profile for instant UI loadSession
sw_reflocalStorageReferral context (city/area/work type) from email links, auto-populates your feed filters after signupUntil used

None of these items are HTTP cookies, they are stored entirely in your browser's localStorage and are never transmitted by the browser except in our own API requests where the JWT is sent in the Authorization header.

3. What We Do Not Use

  • Advertising cookies or tracking pixels
  • Third-party analytics scripts (no Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Segment, etc.)
  • Cross-site tracking cookies
  • Fingerprinting or device identification techniques

Stripe, our payment processor, may set its own cookies when you interact with the Stripe payment form. Stripe's cookie use is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.

4. Your Choices

You can clear all SiteWire localStorage data at any time through your browser's developer tools (Application > Local Storage > sitewire.ca > Clear All) or your browser's "Clear site data" feature. Clearing sw_token will sign you out. Clearing sw_ref removes the referral context without affecting your session.

Most browsers also let you block all localStorage for specific sites, doing so will prevent SiteWire from functioning, as session management relies on it.

5. Canadian Privacy Compliance

SiteWire's approach to local storage is designed to comply with PIPEDA and CASL. We do not use any tracking or analytics mechanism that would require consent under Canadian anti-spam or privacy law. No personal data is shared with third-party advertising networks.

6. Changes to This Policy

If we add new storage items or change how existing ones work, we will update this policy and, if the change is material, notify registered users by email.
